The result of the recovery of a historic Hijos de Rivera recipe, the Especial Extra (The Blushing Beauty, 1982).

A “Doppelbock” lager-style beer inspired by the German school. Intense, extended storage and an excellent balance of (Pilsen and roasted) malts and Nugget hops, this is definitely a malty beer characterised by sweet caramel notes with strong liquor flavours.

Baby scallops in scallop sauce are the perfect accompaniment for this beer.

Our “Blushing Beauty”, pairs to perfection with shellfish and flavoursome sauces such as our scallop sauce.

The delicate meat of the baby scallops, with their fibrous texture and delicious flavours of the sea, are the ideal complement for the sweet, malty flavours of the beer, forming a fabulous contrast for its full body and intense alcohol taste.

The sweet caramel hues blend to perfection with the sweetness and acidity of the scallop sauce, clearing the palate and enhancing the slightly spicy aftertaste of the beer.

BREWING PROCESS

This is result of the recovery of a classic Hijos de Rivera recipe: the Especial Extra (The Blushing Beauty). It is brewed in our only production centre in accordance with the traditional values for which we are renowned: only the very finest ingredients, a special wort and extended storage, etc.

INGREDIENTS

Water from the city of A Coruña, two-strain malts (Pilsen and roasted), corn and Nugget hops and specially selected Hijos de Rivera yeast.

 

TASTING NOTES

ON THE PALATE, THE BITTERNESS OFFSETS THE HIGH DEGREE OF ALCOHOL AND THE LIGHTLY SPICY AFTERTASTE.

WATER FROM THE CITY OF A CORUÑA, TWO-STRAIN MALTS (PILSEN AND ROASTED), CORN AND NUGGET HOPS AND SPECIALLY SELECTED HIJOS DE RIVERA YEAST.

THE AROMAS ARE SLIGHTLY INFLUENCED BY THE MALTS, WITH DELIGHTFULLY SWEET CARAMEL NOTES.
